Perfect pie crust

This is my grandma’s  recipe and it is the best pie crust you will ever have.

As you can see we almost always have some on hand in the freezer

How to cut perfect cubes of butter: first cut 1 stick in half IMG_1535


Then cut three lines one way IMG_1536

Then slice, and repeat with the other half of the stickIMG_1538









2  1/2  sticks butter, cut into cubes (see above)

3 cups flour

1/2 tea baking powder

1/4 salt

1 beaten egg

1Tab white vinegar

4-8 Tab ice cold water

Preheat oven to 350F  Mix the flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Add the butter to the flour and using a pastry cutter break up the butter until about to is the size of peas.Then add the egg and vinegar and starting with 4 Tab water, just keep adding more until a ball of dough starts to form. Dump out the dough on a floured work surface and need just a little bit, the form in to 2 discs wrap in plastic wrap or tinfoil and keep in the fridge or freezer until ready to use.
