Christmas favorites continued…

One day closer to Christmas! As you can tell i am so excited for Christmas. Thats why its so fun to take all my excitement for Christmas and channel it into food. I wish i had pictures of  this delicious recipe i am about to post. Its just that most of these recipes i haven’t made yet this year and don’t have any pictures from last year. That dose not  mean you shouldn’t make these recipes (which sometimes happens to me when there are no pictures in a cook book). Some of these recipes are family recipes, some of these recipes are from friends some of them i discovered. Thats what i love about food, all different kinds has a different story.

These cookies are so good. They are my Grandmas recipe and i can’t remember a year were she hasn’t made them. And they are really pretty. They taste different then your average sugar cookies. And they always taste better when you make them around christmas time. 🙂

Nana’s christmas sugar cookies:

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup shortening

1/2 sugar

1/2 powdered sugar

1 egg

1 1/2 tea vanilla

2 1/4 cup flour

1/2 tea baking soda

1/2 tea cream of tarter

1/2 tea salt

Red and green colored sugar

Preheat oven to 375. Cream the butter,  shortening, and the sugars in a electric    mixer until light and fluffy. Then add eggs and vanilla. Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl then add to the wet. Mix well. Take a cookie scoop and scoop out balls of dough. Then take a cup and dip the bottom of the cup in a little bit of water then dip the cup in some of the collared sugar. Then take the cup and press the bottom of it on the  cookie, then continue with the rest. Take your cookies and put them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Put in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes. Let cookies cool for 10 minutes. Then eat a hole bunch of them.
